We’re determined to reduce the workplace stigma around people with convictions.

Our services span several important aspects of employment, from guaranteed sector interviews and developing sustainable skills to finding the right route for each person, whether it’s volunteering, employment or starting their own business. People with experience of the criminal justice system often need in-work support too, and we’re here for them every step of the way.

FAQs

How willing are employers to hire someone with a conviction?

All employers want to hire people they find to be reliable, trustworthy and motivated, with a positive attitude. Employers need to understand the relevance of your conviction to the job you hope to do, and they can be very willing to employ based on this.

How can I best prepare for and secure a job as someone with a conviction?

Being equipped with the correct knowledge and information that lets you know what you are required to tell employers about your criminal record is important, and having some evidence of positive activity you have undertaken such as a work placement or volunteering, can be really helpful.

What should I do if new work colleagues ask about my past?

Everyone has the right to a future beyond their past, to access new, exciting opportunities. Being prepared for these conversations and thinking about what you might want to share in advance, will help. You are not required to disclose anything to colleagues, only employers where relevant. For further information and support with this get in touch with us.

I’ve never worked before or there are gaps in my CV can you help with this?

Yes! Employers understand that people need support to grow their skill set for the job at hand, and also to become familiar with the routine employment brings, so there are opportunities out there to help with this.
