Learn moreYour legacy could literally be life changing. Life for many of us is a journey. For people with experience of the justice system that journey is likely to have many twists and turns, forward and back, before they reach a positive destination.
A gift in your Will would mean that we can work together with those who need us to give them the help and support they need to move away from their past and help forge a positive future. A future that brings them together with their family and friends, helps them take control of their lives, find employment and ultimately make communities safer by reducing the possibility of reoffending.
Gifts in Wills can fund our Apex Scotland Foundation Programme. Changing lives one step at a time.
So often, people with experience of the justice system are the most misunderstood in society and often come from a background of trauma and poverty. Our Apex Foundation programme aims to help all those who need us.
If we’re to succeed in significantly changing the lives of those we work with, and in return the communities around them, we have to be able to move at the pace determined by them. We fully believe that a positive destination is one that’s different for each individual person we support.
On a daily basis, we support people who have chaotic lives and have often experienced trauma. Therefore, it can take working with this person for six months to a year before they are even in a position to consider employment. Employment might not even be the most suitable positive destination, it could be volunteering, or playing an active positive role in their community.
By leaving a gift in your Will and helping us to grow our Foundation Programme across Scotland you’ll directly support individuals to play a valuable role within society. Your gift will see people become economically independent, help to improve their feelings of self worth and in return have a positive impact on their families and children.
We think that’s a legacy worth leaving, don’t you?
The best way to leave a gift in your Will to us is through your solicitor at the time of making or changing your will. They’ll ask you for our charity number and address, which are below.
You don’t need to tell us if you’ve chosen to leave a gift to us, and we respect that. However, if you do choose to share your intentions with us, we will keep you updated with our work and future plans to help you see the impact your gift will make.
Official name: Apex Scotland
Address: The Melting Pot

There are four different types of gifts you can leave in your Will. These are summarised as:
A residuary gift – this is a percentage of your estate that you may wish to leave to a charity of your choice after you’ve taken care of your loved ones. Because this is a percentage rather than a fixed amount, it will keep its value over time.
A pecuniary gift – this is a fixed amount of money. You can instruct your solicitor that you would like to leave a fixed sum to a charity of your choice.
A specific gift – this is when you choose to leave a tangible, specific gift in your Will. For example, this could be jewellery, art, or shares you hold.
A gift in trust – this is sometimes referred to as life rent. You can gift someone use of something like property over a specific period of time. Once that period ends the gift is then passed on to the person or charity that you chose in your Will.
As with all aspects of creating your Will, your solicitor can advise you on your options.
We’ll always respect your wishes if you choose to leave a gift to a certain area of our work. However, gifts with no restrictions really do make the biggest impact and allow us to allocate your gift to where it is needed the most.
